Blow Off Valve
Application Chart and Description

Both the 87-92 Supra and 93+ TT Supra come stock with a bypass valve that will allow the turbo air to be routed back into the intake stream when the throttle plate is closed.  Some desire more than this simple system.  Whether it's purely for sound or the ability to hold a higher pressure, here are your options. 

 

 

Sound:

Double Sound due to twin valves.

Sound output can be lowered with optional insert.

 

 

 

 

Notes: 

Due to the response and flexibility of this Valve, we recommend it overall.  It cannot leak due to the reverse push/pull design.  Keep in mind the universal kit does not include the flange you need to weld it together.  This BOV in most cases does not have a problem that requires it to be re-circulated due to it's fast action.   

 

Route back to intake:

A separate kit can be purchased to route the output of the BOV back into the intake stream for cars with AFM.

Sound:

Extremely loud single flash of air w/ horn

Sound can lowered by removing horn.

Notes: Keep away from the older series as they are slower to respond and have problems with Toyota type AFM systems.  This valve can be routed back into the intake stream but would require a custom welded flange.

PN# Universal Blitz Kit (About $199) 

 

Racing Type 2

    

This is the choice for the high horsepower crowd.  This blow off valve can flow.  It is a racing type so it is designed for re-circulation.  This HKS version can hold quite a bit of boost.

 

This sound is not much more than a swoosh of air.  Due to the high tension nature, lots of funny compressor surge sounds are often heard.

 

 

 

Notes:  

 

There is no kit for this valve.  It must be custom installed.

 

 

TYPE S

 

Sound:

Output changes according to boost.  Has a single whoosh sound but is followed by a high pitched whistle that hangs if set very softly.  When operated under high boost the sound turns into a high pitched shooting sound, almost like a laser.  

 

 

 

 

Notes: Contains a second port to help prevent leaking under high boost.  These valves have a tendency to wear out over time, but are very good for those on a budget.  These can be routed back into intake via screw in adapter.  It is commonly acknowledged that this valve is for applications under 15 psi.

TYPE R

Sound:

Only loud under high boost.  Due to the large diameter of the piston and the output port, the sound is not very high pitched.  Has somewhat of a deep air release sound.

Notes: Contains secondary port to prevent boost leakage under high boost.  Has a high range of adjustability and a standard or race spring available.  It's recommended that you are running at least 15 psi or more to take advantage of this valve.  Output can be routed into intake via screw in adapter.  There is no supra specific kit, but the Greddy Type S mounted kit can be used if desired.

Sound:

Relatively simple quick flash of air sound.  Sound output can be changed by turning the red circle base to desired sound level.  Can be quite loud but only at a higher boost/airflow level.

Notes: While this Twin Chamber valve does work well with 3sgte, it is not popular due to it's boring sound.  Has a secondary boost port to help with response.

Sound:

Single flash of air.  Sounds similar to older style blitz.

Notes: Requires a tube type of installation.  Custom fabrication is required.

TYPE H - RFL

 

Sound:

One of the louder valves around.  Similar output to the former "ZEN" or current Turbosmart valve.  The horn obviously creates the loud output.

The loudest offering from Turbo XS.  The horn integrated amplifies greatly.  If you are trying to make noise, this will do it.
